Bill Reed's Traveller |
Bill Reed's Traveller My 1970 Traveller was built at Adderley Park in the last year of production. It was owned for the first 19 years by a lady in Worthing, who averaged only 1,000 miles per year over that period. Later it spent several years on the Isle of Wight: one of the owners there gave it the name "Snowdrop". As far as I can tell, the car has been on the road continuously since it was made. I joined the MMOC about a year before buying a vehicle, so I knew pretty much what I wanted. I bought the car from Charles Ware in 2001. I've used the car more than I expected: between 2,500 and 5,000 miles per year. Apart from attending shows and rallies, Snowdrop has been to France twice with Minors on Tour, and will be going for a third time in May 2009. She is also used for a lot of local trips. I can't drive her every day as I go to work on foot, but she is out most weekends. Modifications: unleaded head on original 1098 engine; brake servo on original drums; alternator; modern seats; hazard flashers; halogen lights; door mirrors; towbar (for my cycle rack). Snowdrop was featured in Minor Monthly in February 2006, and in Minor Matters in November/December 2006. |
